E-Design - How it works!

People often ask how Interior E-Design works so I thought I would do a post showcasing what it is and how it works!

Designs from Home is where I offer my Interior Design services from my home to yours. hence the name! ;) This includes consultations, Q+A's, room designs and full home redesigns.

As an Interior Designer, I've worked on projects ranging from model homes all the way up to multi-million dollar homes for clients across the US. I truly feel that everyone should love the home they are in. Most importantly, I feel that this can be achieved with any budget. That's why I offer my design services online for an inexpensive flat rate. The result is a beautifully designed home for a fraction of the cost.

How it works:

1. Send me pictures and dimensions of your space

2. Send me a "Concept Photo" of a room that you love
Pinterest, Houzz, Pottery Barn, Ballard Designs... these are all great places to look for ideas!

I will ask a few questions via email, (including budget!) and once I have all the information I need I will start working on the new space! That is all my client needs to do - from this point on I will do all the research in finding new furniture, art, and accessories in creating the perfect space!

What my Client Receives:

1. Floor Plan
The floor plan will be a scaled layout of the space. It will have numbers on each item that correspond to the shopping list. It will include new and existing furniture, depending on what was previously discussed.

2. Elevations or 3D Renderings
Elevations and 3D renderings help to visualize the space. These drawings will typically be to scale, especially if they are straight on elevations. 3D renderings are usually a quick sketch to help visualize layouts and scaling.

3. Shopping List
The final piece! I send a pdf file that contains all the items that are to be purchased for the new space. These include links where the items may be purchased online and a corresponding number for each item that can be found on the floor plan for reference.

This list includes furniture, art, accessories, lighting, window treatments, rugs and/or new flooring.

E-Design is perfect for those who want to shop at their own pace, possibly saving up to buy one item at a time, or wanting to thrift shop to find similar items locally. There are also those who are ready for the transformation to be done and buy everything at once for one big install! Either way, my client receives a designer look for a fraction of the cost!

Modern Beach Home - Concept Board

I thought I'd take a little break from the Simple Line Works drawings today and post one of my recent Interior Design concept boards for Designs from Home! This was for a new beach home in California and they already had a white slip-covered sofa to work with. I love the neutrals with pops of green and blue. I incorporated modern pieces into the traditional space to make a classic, clean lined area.

I thought the dark gray paint with sisal carpeting would also be a fun change for the space and by keeping it neutral it will make it easy to add and change accent colors in the future. And... I LOVE the hat chair as an accent piece!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!

This year was one hectic celebration, but I feel so privileged to have sent off a few drawings to happy mothers and to do this custom piece for a friend's mother.

It's perfect for the mother's day theme with the mama quail and her cute little chicks trailing behind her... following wherever she goes. :)

I liked it so much I decided to add it to my etsy site - find it here!

My own mother wanted a gallery wall filled with photos of her grandbabies, so this was us on Saturday night in the aisle of Michaels! It sure does help to lay it all out!

Happy Mother's Day to all the beautiful ladies out there!

Love you Mom!

(p.s. - Isn't she beautiful? This was at my wedding 9 years ago!)

Earth Day!

It was Earth Day this week & that's sorta my thing... hence all the drawings of flowers, ferns, birds, and leaves...

I was supposed to install a home this morning with some beautiful accessories and artwork, but my poor boy woke up sick, so instead I am working on a lovely flower child with a succulent crown today. I picture her soaking up the sun, but as I was drawing, it was actually raining here in Arizona (a rare occasion - but a welcoming one!).

So from my inner flower child, Happy Earth Day!

Art Shop: Up & Running!

I have some exciting news!

I finally have some of my prints up and ready for sale! I have always loved drawing and have been wanting to expand what I do to encompass this creative side for me.

I'm calling this little art shop of mine: simple line works
That's exactly what they are. Black and white, minimalist drawings that can be used for both traditional and modern environments. I'm working on a fun kids line too and am planning to add lots more drawings... and maybe even some watercoloring too!

Each drawing is printed on 100% linen, acid-free paper, in many sizes from 4x4" up to 12x18". These reproductions are now in digital format so they can be scaled to any size and printed on any type of paper, including wrapped canvas.

I've seen lots of black and white art recently in the Pottery Barn catalogs and on pinterest, so I wanted to create prints that would fit into the standard sizes that fit the pottery barn frames and styles.

This little 5x5" bird print looks so cute in this white Pottery Barn frame!

I love this 5x7" peony drawing with the Pottery Barn silver matted frame & paired with these adorable mini beaded silver-plated frames.

Of course, there are always Ikea frames too that will fit the 12x12" prints perfectly, like this hydrangea and nest.

I've been having lots of fun making these prints, and staging them as well!

A New Year - Happy 2015!

I thought it would be fun to change things up a bit this year and include some of my other hobbies on this blog as well - all design related. This winter is a perfect time to start because my baby sister got married! It was a quick engagement and thus a very hectic holiday season for my family. With a new baby, the holidays, and planning a shower and reception I had little time to design... BUT I still had lots of fun creating beautiful spaces.

So, although it's not an interior design job, I did "design" her shower and I wanted to share.

Enjoy!
...

I planned her bridal shower for the first weekend in December and although it was a bit overcast, the weather was perfect and I was in love with her wedding colors: gold, ivory, white, and blush.

We had a late lunch which included these delicious drinks from World Market that not only looked super cute and chic, but tasted amazing too!

I ordered the hanging paper lanterns and tissue pom poms from Just Artifacts and finished it off with white streamers from the dollar store.

The event was in my parents backyard, the meeting grounds for most of our parties!

The sign in table had photos of the cute couple mounted on gold, ivory and blush pink cardstock and hung with mini clothespins from twine. Mini loaves of pumpkin bread were the favors inside the wicker basket.

The prize for winning the "He Said, She Said" game: Hand made sugar scrub.

Centerpieces were blush pink hydrangeas and baby's breath in a simple round glass vase that we got from the dollar store. Color coordinated 1/2" confetti surrounded the vases (from Etsy.) It's all in the details.

Congrats baby sis!
